NeighbourGOOD

Parkdale, Toronto

Toronto and GTHA neighbourhoods are dealing with myriad health disparities that have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of Evergreen and Future Cities Canada’s 2020/21 installment of the Future City Builders Program, in partnership with RBC, six teams of Youth City Builders were challenged to use human-centred design to create solutions for a healthier Toronto.

NeighbourGOOD was born from a need for communities to come together instead of fostering a polarizing narrative and the belief that a healthier Toronto is built through community. The NeighbourGOOD concept utilizes the power of collective liberation to foster healthier neighbourhoods from the inside out.

Winning the program’s Urban Action Pitch Night and $5000, the digital network and campaign concept illustrated an example of the potential of relationship-building with organizations, professionals and community members in Toronto’s Parkdale community. Community members could complete a quick quiz based on their availability and interests to be matched with opportunities to volunteer in their neighbourhood, share stories, and learn about local organizations using their powers for good.
